I would like to bring you an example of interesting social media use.Recently I found out that on FB page there is a group of people who organize different interesting exhibitions.The group has lots of members and information about upcoming and current events are being shared only through FB.The group helps young and talented artists to organize their first exhibitions and it helps them to develop for future.So we can do helpful and interesting works by media.Let's chnage the world by media.

DOTCOM Phase #3, Module 2 - Exploring REEL BAD ARABS

1.When the film started I read some information,in the middle of the video I noticed in the right some explanations written for that part of the film.At that moment worked my neocortical brain,the youngest part of our brain.In this film when something broke out,and there appeared a big fire,was working my reptilian bran,as it works when happens something unexpected.While looking this film I feel fear,interest...and worked my limbic brain(our emotional brain).
2.While looking the film I realized that without music aspect the film isn't so impressive,but when turn on the music the film alive ,it becomes more .So the most specific production technique in this video was the voice,in my opinion.
3.At first I notice the REPETITION.As in many ways the video want to make us sure that Arabs are reel bad.The second I notice the NAME CALLING ,the film was called BAD Arabs,so it is already a persuasive method.
4.I think the only thing I want to say,that the quality of the film was really bad,and as it was more clear,it would be more powerful.
5.Maybe it will be interesting to see this film with my friends even in the collage,because we can discuss things concerning to this film,Arabs,and of course we can learn much from each other.

DOTCOM Launches PHASE 3! - Module #1: Reflecting on DOTCOM, Phase 2

1. The most challenging part of July PHASE 2 DOTCOM experience for me was to work on our videos.It was really hard,but the result was perfect,and I am happy that my group was very friendly and we overcome that hard experience.
2. For me everything was rewarding,as I think we learn t things as much as possible,we create new friendship with all DOTCOM students.And almost everything that we have done in the USA was really useful.
3.I think that the most fun time was in Washington DC,where we have visited not only museums,but we have some team building games.And finally the last days in the airport,where our Armenian group had to stay some more days.
4.I am sure that I will enjoy our fall PHASE 3,as now we are more informed about media tools and I am sure that with the help of Rob Williams we will get more and more skills.

Our First DOTCOM Reflection Assignment

1.When we had visited Newseum in Washington, I had learned there more about media.For example around the world,more than 1 billion people read newspapers every day.And besides giant international news networks such as CNN and the BBC,an estimated 25000 television stations and 65000 radio stations operate around the world.In many countries,the government owns those stations and controls programming.

2.In Washington DC ,where we live all together,we play many team building games.And I learned to American's how to play another kind of hide-and-seek.I have also a little cultural shock.I think I have to learn much,because in future we have 20 days to learn from each other.

3.I think the most challenging thing is working on our 5-7 minutes videos.I like my group,with whom I am going to create the video.Today we work very much,it is a little hard for me,but we must work to have a good results.

4.It is really exciting to visit many interesting places,to get equated of different cultures practically to our colleagues.And I am so excited that all our DOTCOM ers are very friendly!

The DOTCOM REEL ACTION Film Project:My Top 3 Themes

1.Media:In my opinion the very top of choice for a REEL ACTION film is the theme of media,as now everyone can't imagine his(her) modern life without media: books,newspapers,television,radio,computer,Inernet,music,etc.I think it is really an interesting theme for everybody and while creating our 5-7 minute movie we'll get more abilities and we'll learn much about the importance of media.
2.Peace/War/Conflict:The second theme is Peace/War/Conflict,as it is the main problem nowadays and it is very important for us to libe in peace and friendship and to avoid of war.Every war begins from a little conflict,but with the help of our 5-7minute movie we can show the people,that every conflict has its solution,and we must find the way of solution,inspite of declaring war.
3.Environment:The third theme that I have chosen is the "Environment".As I like biology,and I always learn to keep the environment clean,because air pollution,water pollution,our nature pollution has a very bad influence on our health and lives.So everybody must know some points of keeping our environment clean,and must understand that if he(she) continues polluting and damaging the environment ,our planet will be in a great danger in the near future.

1)A.For me the most exciting part of DOTCOM PHASE 1 project was describing how our brain reacts in different situations watching my chosen video.
B.The most challenging part of our DOTCOM PHASE 1 project was Module #2 "Media Inventory",where I was eager to do my best to express all my interests concerning to media litracy.
C.DOTCOM PHASE 1 project was perfect,but of course I would like there were more modules,because I really enjoy every module.

Customs Related to Easter

Good Friday customs include eating hot cross buns.The round bun represents the full moon and the cross divides the bun into four lunar quarters.The meats associates with Easter are lamb and ham.For Christians lamb symbolized the sacrifice of Christ.
People believe that it is the Easter bunny that brings them in a fancy basket.
Egg rolling is another Easter tradition that children take part in with gusto.The competition takes place in Northern Britain on Easter Monday;the best publicised event takes place at Avenham Park in Preston,Lancashire.Hard-boiled eggs are rolled down a slope with the winner being the one who rolls the farthest,survives the most rolls or is successfully aimed between two pegs.
Pancake Day falls 41 days before Easter.It's the eve of the Lenten fast.On this day in earlier times all Christians took their last opportunity to eat up all the rich foods prohibited during Lent.Thus eggs,butter and fat remaining in the house were made into pancakes,hence the festival's usual nickname of Pancake Day.
Today everyone enjoys eating the customary pancakes,and some regions celebrate the day with pancake races.The oldest and most famous is held at Olney in Buckinghamshire,the UK.The race is run over 415 yards(about 380 m) by women over 60,wearing a cap and apron.They must "tros" their pancake(flip over in the frying pan) at least three times during the race.The winner receives a kiss from the Pancake Bell Ringer and a pryer book from the vicar.
In Armenia on Easter Sunday,everybody greets each other with the following words:"Christ is risen from the dead!"-"Blessed is the resurrection of Christ".The traditional Armenian Easter dish is pilaf and prunes,followed by fish and herbs symbolizing the coming of spring.Coloured eggs decorate the table.Through in present-day celebrations the eggs are dyed in many colours,in ancient times they were only red,painted with the juice of red onion leaves and with brich tree bark to symbolize the blood of Christ.

CHARLES AZNAVOUR may well be the only person who remembers his first visit to New York, in 1948. He was 24, poor, and spoke no English, but he was eager for adventure. Edith Piaf had invited him to accompany her to the United States -- as a friend, not a lover, he insists -- and the ''little sparrow'' helped him find a few gigs of his own. More important, this short, wiry Frenchman entered a world of music in which he felt immediately at home. He already knew the work of Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Jerome Kern, and now he discovered Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie.

When he next visited New York, in 1963, Mr. Aznavour had already made it as a singer, songwriter and actor in Europe, but he was still largely unknown in the United States. This time, he was determined to be noticed. He rented Carnegie Hall and, helped by a television appearance on the Jack Parr show and by his starring role in Francois Truffaut's hit movie ''Shoot the Piano Player,'' his concert was a sellout. ''No one knew me, except they had seen the film and they thought I played the piano,'' he recalled with amusement. ''I don't play the piano.''

This week, as Mr. Aznavour embarks on a new American tour, public recognition is the least of his problems. Having sold close to 100 million albums (his latest is ''Plus Bleu . . .''), he now enjoys the magical status of international musical legend. Indeed, after the death of Frank Sinatra, he may well be the last practitioner of a song tradition that dates back to the 1940's. Yet he is no relic from the past. At 74, as energetic and good-humored as ever, he remains a performer extraordinaire. Starting Tuesday, he will be appearing through Nov. 1 at the Marquis Theater on Broadway. He will take the same show to the Wilshire Theater in Los Angeles from Nov. 19 through Nov. 24.

For all his world travels, though, Mr. Aznavour's American tours are special to him, not least because they always raise a teasing question: Would he also have become a celebrity if, as was almost the case, he had been born an American? When his Armenian parents -- his singer father, Micha, and actress mother, Knar -- arrived in Paris in 1920, their intention was to travel on to the United States. And if their visas had come through quickly, Charles Aznavourian (his original surname) would no doubt have been born in the New World. Instead, he became a Frenchman, and his family settled here. Eventually, he learned English (through the songs of Fred Astaire, Mel Torme and Frank Sinatra, he notes), but as a third language. In this image Charles is singing in Erevan,in Republic Square.

Mr. Aznavour's musical education, albeit informal, was no less international. His father taught him Russian, Jewish, Gypsy, Italian and Armenian songs. He felt drawn to American music -- Josephine Baker had led an invasion of Paris by black American musicians and entertainers -- and he loved the tangos of Carlos Gardel. Years later, he discovered Arab, Iranian and Spanish music. And, in time, he concluded that his highly distinct tenor voice, with its raspy nasal color, had a Mediterranean quality that appealed to a variety of audiences.

''I think Jews like my voice because it has a bit of the cantor,'' he mused.emarkably, amid all this writing and performing, Mr. Aznavour, who has lived in Geneva since the early 1980's, has found time to appear in no fewer than 60 movies, occasionally in lead roles, but more often in small parts. A French movie dictionary noted that he had been careless in choosing his subjects and directors, ''but this skinny little Armenian still makes his mark, even in bad films.'' The truth is that he simply enjoys acting. In fact, after his American tour, he plans to stop giving concerts for a couple of years and instead, yes, make some more movies, including perhaps one with the Canadian director Atom Egoyan, who is also of Armenian descent.

Of course, the world still insists on seeing Mr. Aznavour as a singer, but here, too, he likes to do as he wishes.

The persuasive language of media: Module#5

How reacts our brain watching my chosen video
Limbic: In this video we listen to a very popular music "Irreplaceable" by Beyonce which is very pleasant and at that moment that's our limbic brain which works.That's why our limbic brain we call "emotional brain".
Reptilian:As we know this part of our brain reacts when something unexpectedly happens.So watching this video our reptilian brain works when suddenly Beyonce falls down the mobile telephone and a few minutes we have an impression that it will break down.
Neocortex: While watching my chosen video at the end of the advertisement we read "SAMSUNG" and we think,so our neocortical brain works,which is our "thinking" brain.

Persuasive techniques
1.Symbols:In my video we can see the symbol of "SAMSUNG" at the end of the advertisement.And of course listening to this phrase we immediatly imagine the mobile telephone that is shown in my video.
2.Big Lie:When Beyonce falls down her mobile it doesn't break and nothing happens to it.But is it true?Can this fragile sensitive(because in the other side it is sensored) mobile stay harmless while falling it down on the ground?
3.Simple solutions:The main sense of this advertisement is that this mobile has two sides,on the first side it is a simple mobile,but when you turn it to the other side it turns into MP3 player: two in one.It is a very simple solution instead of buying two things and thus spending much money.
4.Humor: It's very humerous that in this advertisement Beyonce is in two roles at the same time.While walking in the street one is listening to music,the other is speaking over it.When they come across,their phones fall down one over the other.As a result of this phone appears.Not only the phone but Beyonce also changes into another one.I think the solution of advertising something in this funny and interesting way is very impressive.
5.Beautiful People:This method of persuating is very well seen in my chosen video.Beyonce is one of the most popular,nice,extravagant singer in the world who is advertising a "SAMSUNG" mobile.And after that nobody will be indifferent to this advertisement and everyone will think if Beyonce uses this mobile,I would like only this mobile and nothing else.
6.Timing:Of course this method has it's best side too.Instead of listening to a very long and borring lecture,it is much more impressive to watch a very short and interesting advertisement like mine.It lasts only 30 second but includes so many persuasive techniques.

Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences. Astronomers of early civilizations performed methodical observations of the night sky, and astronomical artifacts have been found from much earlier periods. However, the invention of the telescope was required before astronomy was able to develop into a modern science. Historically, astronomy has included disciplines as diverse as astrometry, celestial navigation, observational astronomy, the making of calendars, and even astrology, but professional astronomy is nowadays often considered to be synonymous with astrophysics. Since the 20th century, the field of professional astronomy split into observational and theoretical branches. Observational astronomy is focused on acquiring and analyzing data, mainly using basic principles of physics. Theoretical astronomy is oriented towards the development of computer or analytical models to describe astronomical objects and phenomena. The two fields complement each other, with theoretical astronomy seeking to explain the observational results, and observations being used to confirm theoretical results.

Amateur astronomers have contributed to many important astronomical discoveries, and astronomy is one of the few sciences where amateurs can still play an active role, especially in the discovery and observation of transient phenomena.

My visit to orphanage #1 in Nubarashen

The international organization "Save the children" spent seminars,discussions at our school and organized a visit to orphanage # 1 in Nubarashen,not far from Yerevan.

The participants of our team were very glad to visit the children and give them books,toys,sweets and other presents.We did our best to make them feel happy.We had an interesting talk with them,played many games and sang many songs,played the guitar,the piano,the flute.
My friends and I tried to give them love and care as much as we could.At the end of our visit it was really exciting.The children danced a nice dance which excited us very much.
We had a lot of fun and I am glad to help the children and give them my love and whatever I can.Of course I was sad at the same time,because I know that they would like to have a family,parents,sisters,brothers and relatives.Though they were happy.I saw a great sadness in their eyes.
We promised them to visit very often as their and brothers.I call to all the parents who leave their children:"Don't leave your children,they miss you and they need you.Please,make them happy!"

Our Brains on Media,MODULE #3

I think that brain is one of the most important organ in human body.It plays a big and difficult role.All our organs are ruled by the orders of our brain.It means that without our brain we can't live or do anything.This important organ consists of 3 general parts:the reptilian brain,the limbic brain,the neocortex brain.Each of this parts has its own function.
For example,the REPTILIAN brain reacts when happens something unexpected or suddenly,and our reaction is intinctual which lasts a few seconds.
The LIMBIC brain is our emotional brain.It's the 2nd oldest part ofur brain.When we listen to a good music or admire a good picture,that is our limbic brain which works.As a result we have different feelings.
And of course the youngest part of our brain is NEOCORTEX.When we think,read all this information is processed in the neocortical brain.

There we see many colours,we admire an interesting view,we feel a pleasant melody and for that works our limbic brain("emotional" brain).At the end of the video we read that this is an advertisement of SONY_BRAVIA,and that is our neocortical("thinking" brain) brain which works.

MEDIA INVENTORY,Module#2

I am a person with multiple interests.Ther are many things that have fascinated me at different stages of my life,and I always take up what appeals to my interests.

1.BOOKS: My most favourite activity is reading.I am fond of many kinds books-detective,adventure,romance,science fiction,history.Each genre is unique.I read romantic stories like "Tristan and Isolda",because they are beaytiful evidence of true love and affectoin.
Detective stories attract me as they challenge my critical thinking,logic and attention to detail.Historical novels are interesting as they recreate the past very vividly and make me travel back in time becoming a participant of those events in my mind.

I get really involved in a book,if it manages to catch my imagination.I can find answers to many questions in books.My favorite books are "Count Monte Cristo","Jean Christophe","Samvel".

2.NEWSPAPERS/MAGAZINES: Before the advent of radio and TV broadcasts the print media(primarily newspapers and news magazines)were the main news sources.Most of all I like to read the newspaper "Yes",ther I can find all news about Armenian actors,singers and interesting art events.I really enjoy it.I can find posters of my favorite singers there

3.MUSIC: Music occupies a special place in my life.Music gives me a lot of pleasure.I play the guitar and it is cool,because the melody of classical guitar is perfect,and your feelings listening to this music you can't express in words.
It's a great pleasure.When I play the guitar I become more happier.It's one of my favorite hobbies too.I also enjoy listening to music.I go to concerts when I have time and often listen to music when I do some household chores or when I want to relax.My tastes are quite varied.I like classical music,at the same time.I have a passion for pop music.My favorite pop songers are Charles AznavourEnrique IglesiasEros Ramazotti

4.TELEVISION: Newspapers,through,don't react to events as quickly as TV does.TV has become the primary source of news for millions of people around the world today.In addition,TV reaches a large audience and appeals to the emotions through both image and sound.

And what about me???Of course I like watching TV.I watch many programs,listen to news,watch interesting projects,games,listen to the music.But my favorite chanal is "Discovery",because there are many interesting programms about these things that I never heard of before.I think that passing my time watching this chanal gives me much knowledge.

5.VIDEO GAMES:Video and computer games have become an increasingly popular hobby,especially with the young people.Video and computerames are a good passtime to fill empty parts of the day.It's not true that electronic games lead to social isolation.For example me,I like very much to play the game "Sims",because ther you can create a man,build a new house for him,to work,to gain my own money,and to spend this money buying something new for my new house.It's like in the real life.
And I think it is not only game,but also an interesting experience to imagine you an adult,which must work to save his family.

6.COMPUTERS: Today,ther are computers in almost every home,and the other tasks compuers send and recieve messages,print,do research,keep track of finances etc.I use my files,photoes,videos there.It's an interesting bookshelf that has enormous possibilities.Of course I listen to music,copy some CD or DVD disks,watch films.I have a dictionary in it,and I use it to find the words I need more easily.

7.INTERNET: Internet has recently another source of news.It is a huge computer network connecting many smaller networks from around the world.Due to the Internet information is now more readily accessible.I can find information about any event with just one click.It has the capacity to transfer information across vast distances.I connect to the Internet to learn about news,events,cultures,as well as conduct scientific research.I also communicate with my friends by e-mail and meet people with similar interests all over the world on the Internet.I'm a member of odnoklassniki.ru and I communicate with my peers from abroad.Of course I am a member of mondialogo.org\tac where by a chat I can connect with many people of different views,interests etc.I think that the Internet will become an essential tool for research,shopping and communication.

The Heart of Yerevan(Republic Square)

The square is the beloved place for those who enjoy walking in the cool of Yerevan nights.The multicolour singing fountains dance to music in summer evenings.This marvellous view appeals to many tourists who choose to stay at Armenia Marriott Hotel

The square is continued by a series of fountains in the adjacent park.These fountains were built to commemorate the 2750th anniversary of the foundation of Yerevan.There are 2750 jets,each for a year in the history or the city.

Republic Square is the heart of Yervan.It is said to be one of the ten most beautiful

squares in the world.The square has an oval shape and ther are magnificent buildings framing it.The buildings look especially beautiful as they are made of tufa stone.It is the main construction material used in Armenia.It is light but strong.This stone has about 40 colour shade-pink,yellow,violet,grey,black,etc.

The square is dominated by the Government House,the seat of the Armenian Government.The Armenian tricolour(red,blue and orange)national flag is hoisted at the top of the building.The colours symbolize courage,liberty and harvest.On the clock tower of the building is "the Armenian Big Ben",which tells the time every quarter of an hour.

1.I am Lusine Dokhoyan.I'm 15.I was born in Yerevan in 1993,May 18.I'm from Armenia.I've got a large family; father,mother,grandmother,sister and a little brother.I most like to learn languages and sciences.I like to play the guitar and to draw.I have got many draems and passions.I want to get good and comprehensive education,to be a useful for my country and to travel all over the world and to enlarge my knowledge about other people's history,traditions and culture.I am an outgoing.I'm honest,responsible,communicative,friendly,creative,hardworking,respective and happy.I'm a quiet and shy girl.I'm observer and purposeful.I'm interested in everything about me.I have a great ability to interact with others and adapt to new situations.I am an exellent pupil.I have got many friends and we trust each other.Every day after school I continue my education in French "Bilingue" course,where I learn French language and literature,maths,physics,chemistery and biology.It's a tradition in our school to visit children's home and help them and give them presents.Very often the youth society of our school holds discussions,debates and meetings on different tasks.We discuss the problems that teens have today.

2.Last year I had a favourite media experience participating in the international "Mondialogo" School Contest 2007-2008 and submitted my project reports.It was an intercultural dialogue concerning the envirnmental global problems I througth who gain the highest score in the result of voting and was encouraged with a certificate.I'm a member of odnoklassniki.ru .I like to play a video game "Sims" and I subsdribe to an interesting magasine"Yes" and I like to read the newspaper "Morning News".Now I'm reading a book "Leonardo da Vinci" and I like to listen to Beatles and Pussicat Dolls.This Media experience makes it powerful for me as it's an opportunity to have an international dialogue.

3.An issue I'm concered about my home community isthe shortage of water.The population often suffers from it.As a result of that,green areas are not many.I would like to solve this problem by changing the irrigation technology because trees,flowers and grass need watering and they are not only nice but also give us oxygen and clear the polluted air.At the same time it's difficult not to have water in the houses the hole day.

4.I have an experience to work in intercultural programs.I think I can contribute to the group of participants during our DOTCOM program.It's interesting to communicate with other teens and to know about their interests and problems.It's a great chance to use media and tell each other about our countries,history,culture and progress.I am very grateful to DOTCOM program that helps us to use our possibilities and develop our skills and abilities and to express our views and opinions.

Garni Temple

Thirty-five kilometres to the south of Yerevan is the Temple of Garni.It is located at the edge of the deep gorge of the River Azat.The area of the temple is areal archaeological museum under the open sky.The temple dates back to the 1st century AD.It was built by Tiridates I(Trdat I)and was dedicated to the god of sun Mihr.It is a pagan temple built in Hellenistic style.It is a rectangular constuction surrounded by 24 finnely ornamented colomns and has unique beauty.

The cornice and walls of the temple are decorated with rich ornaments and bas-reliefs.Inside is a square hall with an atlar.The temple was destroyed during the earquake of 1679.Now it has been reconstructed.It stands like a pearl above the canyon.

No far are the ruins of a huge palace and baths,built in the 3rd century AD in the Roman style.The baths were warmed by heated air which passed through the ceramic pipes laid under the floor.Some details of the mosaic floor of the palace baths have remained intact.
